Sublunary Night

I was born in Muslim Spain
Poet in my spare time
I pierced the foggy night with a stroke of my pen
In Afshanah, geometry of jasmine
My words inhabit the desert of the soul
Inviolable times, canticle of angels,
The ether covers our immobile smiles
Disintegrated cities, the flowerbeds are in bloom
At the bedside of the sultan, I seized the shadow of an angel
His body fell into dust
And slipped through my loving fingers
White tyranny, branches of history,
Your gaze revives these verses, and the sun dances,
The light has burned my conscience with burning iron,
I am a kafir, ignored by the immense Gods
And the coal of my unhappy heart
Ignites the sublunary night
