SEVENYST / Seven Nights (Old English / English)

I have been waiting for your footsteps sevenyst (seven nights)
I have been drinking the yvor (ivory) liquor of the moon
Your smile was like this glow that is lacking darkness
An owl witnessed my impatience,
I asked it to let me kairen (travel)
Until a reality where you would be mine
Down to a lynde (linden tree) garden, memories ressurfaced,
I have drank the licour (juice) of quiet hours,
Once it was gone, once fay (faith) and lawtie (loyalty) vanished
From my soul this ballet (poem) was created

I have been waiting for your footsteps sevenyst (seven nights)
I have been drinking the yvor (ivory) liquor of the moon
I shall not felye (fail) the treasure born in my soul
The glow your voice once had, I shall not forget the fire,
My body caught agayns (in the presence of) your eyes
I am waiting for you siching (sighing) on the banks of a doomed world
My past I have long traded it for the glance of a makaris (flower of poets)
Let me love you like ghosts do, without remeid (remedy)
In this chaotic time, let my light shine on you
Let love loom like a beggar and its shyderyol (shattered) dreams

Light my cigaret, traveller, I waited for you sevenyst (seven nights)
Let me kairen (travel) to the ocean of yvor (ivory) that’s love
Let me wait for you under a lynde (linden tree)
Steal the secret glow of these makaris (flowers of poets)
My ballet (poem) rimes with your shadow, traveller,
My lykam (body) melts its fire at the herede (source)
Of an enlightened storm —
Let us sigh, yferis (together), let us dream

Folde (earth) buds in oblivion of its darkest flowers
Agayns (in the presence of) roses more crimson than suns
I foresaw the fyn (end) of this scorching distance
I foresaw a lake, surrounded with amaranthus
The fire of springaldis (youth) drives us a little bit crazy
Dyne (gloomy) path cease to exist, lilac looms
Cleared of doubts, sevenyst I waited,
Take my cigaret, traveller, hold it tight
